1945 – End of World War Two

On 8th May 1945, the Allies accepted Germany’s surrender and Winston Churchill announced VE Day – Victory in Europe, marking the end of WW2 in Europe.

Street parties were held all over Britain to celebrate the end of the war.

While we celebrated in Britain, war raged on in the Far East until the 2nd of September 1945 –  when Japan formally surrendered, ending World War II throughout the rest of the world.
